ASEAN Green Initiative: planting 10 million native trees in next 10 years

The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) and the ASEAN Secretariat launched the ASEAN Green Initiative (AGI) on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of ASEAN (08/08/1967). The initiative aims to restore ecosystems, combat desertification, stop land degradation and hinder biodiversity decline in the region. Subsequently, it will improve people’s well-being and livelihood. The implementation of this initiative is in line with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, which commenced also this year.
