The Mekong province of Đồng Tháp is acting to protect its biodiversity for wetlands, waterways, dryland areas, and agricultural production from 2021 – 2025.
Typical plants to be preserved include lotus, water lily, cajuput trees, bamboo, rice varieties, specialties fruits such as Cát Chu mango, Cát Hoà Lộc mango, and pink mandarin as well as other indigenous plants.
Besides, nature reserves, endangered animals and plants, forest areas, particularly special-use forests with the focus on indigenous species are also protected.
It also focuses on developing animal husbandry, aquaculture, and plants in protected areas like national park (Tràm Chim), heritage site (Gò Tháp), historic site (Xẻo Quýt), and cajuput forest area (Gáo Rồng).
The province also promotes private investment in biodiversity, forest, ecotourism preservation, and environmental protection projects.
