Đà Nẵng: launching US$ 11.3 million funded project of integrated center focusing on natural disaster management

Description

The project is financed by non-refundable ODA from the Government of the Republic of Korea. The center is expected to come into operation in 2025. The launching ceremony was co-organized by the People’s Committee of Đà Nẵng and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on 4th March.

The center, entitled “Integrated Centre for Controlling Green and Smart Urban Resilience (ENSURE Centre)”, once put in operation, aims to promote natural disaster resilience. More specifically, information technology will be deployed to early recognize, warn, forecast the development of natural disasters. Subsequently, it will enhance the city’s capacity in disaster forecasting and response and green urban resilience. It will be the first exemplar in Vietnam with integrated functions of disaster management.

This is a special project as it “provides a comprehensive solution to integrated monitoring of natural disasters”, said the director of KOICA Vietnam, Cho Hang-deog.
