Deloitte Economics Institute’s report: in case of climate inaction, SEA can lose US$28 trillion by 2070

Description

That is one of the results of the climate modeling assessment presented in the latest report “Southeast Asia’s turning point – How climate action can drive our future” issued by the Deloitte Economics Institute. The inaction will create more challenges and subsequent losses by, e.g., sea levels rise, crop yields fall, heat stress, diminished health and wellbeing, and infrastructure damages. However, if the Southeast Asia (SEA) countries rapidly take actions to mitigate the climate crisis toward decarbonization, the region’s economy will benefit US$ 12.5 trillion (in present value terms) in a 1.5oC world (temperature increase limits to 1.5 oC) by 2070.
