Development of Vietnamese urban on adaptation to climate change


Prime Minister has just approved the project on the development of Vietnamese urban on adaptation to climate change in the period from 2021 to 2030. The project aims to promote urban areas to be proactive in response to climate change, use resources appropriately in the renovation and development, contribute to the reduction and control of emissions and pollution.

The project plans to implement first for five centrally-run cities of Hà Nội, HCMC, Cần Thơ, Hải Phòng, Đà Nẵng; urban areas of seven provinces in the North coast, Central coast, Mekong River Delta and of seven provinces in Northern mountain and Central Highlands in the period of 2021 – 2025. 

In the second period of 2026 – 2030, the project will be conducted for urban areas at the coastal and plain areas which are prone to flood, flash flood, landslide in the provinces of Northern mountain, Central coast, Southeast, Central Highlands, and provinces where new climate change impacts occur in urban areas.

After 2030, the project will be carried out nationwide.
