This was the major discussion of a two-day workshop co-organized by the Eco-Industrial Park Project Management Board in Vietnam, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), and the Vietnam Cleaner Production Centre from 13th to 14th January. The workshop is within the framework of the project “Eco-industrial parks intervention in Vietnam – Perspective from the Global Eco-Industrial Park Program”, funded by the Swiss Federal Economic Agency (SECO) and implemented by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The project aims to promote resource efficiency in cleaner production and industrial symbiosis through training activities. Accordingly, it will support Vietnam to complete guidance documents on implementing the model of the eco-industrial park. In addition, it continues to realize ecological solutions at industrial zones of Đình Vũ (Deep C – Hải Phòng), Khánh Hòa (Đà Nẵng), Amata (Đồng Nai), Trà Nóc 1 and 2 (Cần Thơ), and Hiệp Phước (Hồ Chí Minh City). This would bring economic, social, environmental benefits and subsequently business development. Furthermore, once this model is replicated nationwide, it also contributes to strategies of national sustainable development (SDGs 2030), green growth, and commitments of Vietnam on greenhouse gases reduction at the COP26.
The project period is three years from 2020 to 2023.
