Dr. Trần Hữu Hiệp, a Mekong Delta economic expert, stated three main pillars in climate change response in Vietnam, particularly for the Mekong River Delta:
(1) Proactive mindset on climate change adaptation
For the Mekong Delta, for example, it has changed the policy from fighting the flood, saline intrusion, and drought to adapting disasters.
(2) Regional economic development by applying advanced science and technology and financial resources where people should be placed in the center.
(3) Strengthening regional connectivity and inter-regional coordination
