Huế will reduce 70% plastic waste by 2024 and 100% by 2030

Description

These targets are set within the framework of the project “Huế – plastic smart city in central Việt Nam”. This information was announced at a conference coorganized on 11th November by Huế city and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Vietnam.

This project is financially supported by WWF Norway through WWF Vietnam with a total budget of more than 65 billion VNĐ in the form of non-refundable aid from the official development assistance. The project’s period is from 2021 to 2024 with the overall aim towards “zero plastic waste” for Huế city by 2030. Improving solid waste management in the city by the participation of communities and businesses, the project is expected to reduce plastic consumption and discharge into the environment in the city.

Huế is the 7th city in Vietnam and 32nd in the world which has joined the network of “Plastic smart cities” initiated by WWF.
