Many coastal areas in Mekong Delta have been intruded by saltwater, resulting in shortage of water for daily use and agricultural cultivation. Authorities in the delta have taken measures against this situation since early this year, such as construction of temporary dams to halt saltwater entering, dredging canal to obtain water for production, and cultivate saltwater resistant rice.
