MoC: with 867 urban areas, Vietnam’s urbanization ratio reaches 40.4%

According to the Ministry of Construction (MoC), until the end of June 2021, the urbanization ratio of Vietnam is 40.4%, and increased 0.4% with five more new urban areas compared to 2020.
With a total of 647 urban areas, the fifth-class accounts for the highest share of approx. 75%. The detailed distribution is as follows: special class with two areas of Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh city, first-class with 22, second-class with 32, third-class with 48, fourth-class with 89, and fifth class with 647 areas.
