The Ministry of Health (MoH) issued Circular No. 20/2021/TT-BYT on the management of medical waste within the location of healthcare establishments on 26 November. The Circular stipulates regulations on both ordinary and hazardous medical waste including classification, collection, storage, minimization, recycling, transportation, documentation, and reporting.
This Circular will take effect from 10th January 2022 and subsequently replace the joint Circular 58/2015/TTLT-BYT-BTNMT. The MoH is responsible for implementing this new Circular No. 20/2021/TT-BYT; while in the joint Circular 58/2015/TTLT-BYT-BTNMT, both MoH and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment are implementation organizations.
