This is the content of a project developed by the Department of National Remote Sensing under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE). In Vietnam, only 30% of the total 660 waste disposal sites are sanitary landfills. The majority of landfills are not properly managed. The project’s goal is to improve the solid waste management capacity at the central and local levels, particularly management and planning of landfills, waste treatment areas, and environmentally sensitive areas. The project will also help reduce costs in updating information and data on solid waste management, resulting in long-term economic benefits.
