This online communication campaign under the portal https://chungtaygiamnhua.com was jointly established by the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment (ISPONRE) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), the project “Rethink Plastic”, the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), the World Wide Fund Vietnam (WWF – Vietnam), and the Packaging Recycling Organization Vietnam (PRO Vietnam). The campaign aims to promote behavioral changes of the whole society towards plastic.
This event took place on 7th October 2021 as one of the activities of the pilot project “Initiative to establish a supermarket alliance to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic bags in Vietnam” (Plastic Alliance). Currently, the ISPONRE is coordinating with the Department of Trade and Industry of Hà Nội to implement this pilot project.
This initiative belongs to the umbrella project “Rethinking Plastics – Circular Economy Solutions to Marine Litter” funded by the European Union and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). “Rethink Plastic” is implemented by the Germany Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and EXPERTISE FRANCE. The project lasts from 2019 to 2022 and is conducted in seven countries in East and South-East Asia including Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
