Vietnam will plant 1 billion trees between 2021 – 2025


The program of growing 1 billion trees for the period 2021-2025 was approved on 1 April 2021 under decision No. 524/QĐ-TTg. More specifically, approximately 70% of 1 billion will be planted in urban and rural areas, the remainder will be grown in projected, special-use, and production forests. This activity aims to contribute to the protection of ecological environment and landscape, response to climate change, socio-economy development, improvement of life, and country’s sustainable development. It especially calls for the socialization and mobilization of all resources to realize this program.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Construction, and provincial people’s committees will be the main implementers of this program.
