Vietnam´s first large-scale offshore wind power plant to be constructed in Bình Thuận

The group Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and its partners from Asiapetro and Novasia signed contracts with the Northern Center for Planning and Investigation of Marine Resources – Environment (CPIM) of Vietnam on 20th May 2021 to develop the La Gàn offshore wind power project in Bình Thuận. These contracts carry out the geographical and geological investigations in La Gàn implemented by CPIM and Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS).

According to BVG Associates (a technical consultancy of the World Bank), the project will create more than 45000 jobs and contribute $ 4.4 billion to the Vietnamese economy when it operates. In addition, when complete, the project will supply electric power for more than 7 million households in Vietnam annually and reduce 130 million CO2 emissions during the lifespan of the project.
